Overview
If you need to change the day of the week for a recurring appointment series, you can do so in just a few clicks. For example, you might want to move a weekly Friday appointment to Tuesdays instead. This guide shows how to make that update and apply it to future appointments.
How to Change the Day of a Recurring Appointment
- Open the Calendar and locate the recurring appointment you want to change
- Click on the appointment to open the details view
- You’ll see a label showing the recurrence pattern (e.g., “Recurring Weekly”)
- Click the recurrence tag to edit it
Step 1: Change the Recurrence Day
- In the recurrence settings, uncheck the current day (e.g., Friday)
- Check the new day (e.g., Tuesday)
- Make any other changes if needed (time, location, provider, etc.)
- Click Update, then click Update Appointment
Step 2: Choose the Scope of the Change
You will be asked to choose whether the change should apply to:
- This appointment only
- This and all following appointments (recommended)
- All appointments (including past ones)
For most cases, selecting “This and all following appointments” is recommended to update the schedule moving forward.
What Happens After the Update
- The appointment is removed from the old day (e.g., Fridays)
- The recurring appointment appears on the new day (e.g., Tuesdays) for all future dates
- Past appointments are not changed — if you want earlier appointments on the new day, you will need to add those manually
Example
If your original recurring appointment started on Friday, April 4, and you changed the series to start on Tuesday, April 9:
- All future appointments will appear on Tuesdays
- April 4 (Friday) will remain unchanged
- You can manually add an appointment on April 2 (Tuesday) if needed
