This feature is only available for Lobbie EMR customers in the United States.
Overview
This article explains how to set up your in-house lab settings so that required information (such as CLIA numbers, lab director, and license info) appears on lab printouts and in the patient chart. You must be an admin user to complete this setup.
Step 1: Access In-House Lab Settings
- Click the gear icon in the left-hand navigation to open Settings
- Go to Labs
- At the top of the page, click the Vendors tab
- Find the In-House vendor and click View/Edit on the right
Step 2: Enter Lab Information by Location
Each location can have its own lab settings. To configure them:
- Toggle on the location you want to set up
- Fill out the required fields:
- Lab Name
- Lab Director (select from your user list)
- CLIA Number
- State License Number (if required)
- Facility Address
- Click Save when finished
Note: If your clinic has multiple locations, you can repeat this process for each one.
Step 3: Add Reference Ranges for Lab Tests
To include normal ranges in lab results:
- Go to Settings > Labs
- Select a test and click Edit
- Click Add Reference Range
- Enter:
- Value range (e.g. 0 to 5)
- Attributes (such as age and sex)
Example:
- 0 to 5 for males age 10 to 45
- 2 to 7 for males age 46 to 90
Click Save when finished. These ranges will appear during lab entry and on printouts.
Step 4: Enter In-House Lab Results for a Patient
Once your in-house lab is configured, you can start entering results.
- Open a patient record and select an Appointment
- Click Enter Lab
- For the Vendor, choose In-House
- Complete the required details:
- Drawn By (choose a staff member)
- Lab Notes (optional comments)
- Select Tests or Panels
- Enter Values and mark them as within range or not
- Click Confirm and Enter Labs
The lab entry will now include your configured license details, and the results will be tied to the patient visit.
Step 5: Print Lab Results with Full Details
After entering lab results, you can create a printout:
- Open the lab record
- Click Print
The printout will include:
- CLIA number and license info
- Lab director and facility name
- Each test result
- Reference ranges
- Notes and range status (e.g. “within normal range”)
Step 6: Confirm Results Appear on Chart and Printout
After lab results are entered and saved:
- The information will display under Labs in the patient chart
- The Printout will include lab details, reference ranges, and notes
- No additional clinical note or form is required
