Overview
Practitioner Scheduling allows you to define when staff and patients can book appointments by setting up practitioner availability directly in your scheduler. You can create calendars for rooms, services, or non-provider scheduling needs, not just tied to individual practitioners.
Setting up Availability in the Scheduler
Accessing Practitioner Scheduling
- Go to Settings > Practitioner Scheduling.
- You can create multiple schedules (e.g., “Consults,” “Injections”), each represented as a column in the scheduler.
Setting Up a Schedule
- Create a new schedule by clicking Add Template.
- Name your schedule (e.g., “Medication Orders”) and link it to a location.
-
Define availability by dragging and dropping blue blocks on the scheduling canvas.
- You can set start and end times for each day.
- Leave blocks open (e.g., for lunch breaks).
- Duplicate availability blocks across multiple days to save time.
Recurring Appointments (Staff-Only)
Appointments created from the staff-facing calendar can be configured to repeat on a set schedule (e.g., every Monday). You can edit or cancel individual instances or the entire series.
Configuring Availability
- Template View defines recurring availability for the next nine months.
- Daily View allows for daily overrides, such as blocking off a specific day (e.g., holidays or special closures).
-
Customize blocks:
- Set different appointment types for specific blocks.
- Limit blocks to specific practitioners.
- Define the number of simultaneous appointments allowed by setting the "Quantity" value to allow more than one patient to be booked during that time (e.g., group visits, batch injections).
Managing Display Settings
- Adjust start time, end time, and time resolution (e.g., 30-minute blocks) to fit your scheduling needs.
Saving and Viewing Your Schedule
- After creating your template and any overrides, click Save Config to save.
- Your new schedule will appear as a new column in the Scheduler view, ready for staff and patients to book.
- You can filter the scheduler view by specific calendars (e.g., by practitioner or service type) to simplify day or month views.
